"Sense of Wonder" brings clio awards together work done during my stay in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris from 6 months between 2008 and 2009, this exhibition presents the consequences from this experience: a reflection on painting and its constituents base color and the transition from volume to plane which intersects the attempt to dive into a world where the sense of wonder is not absent.
The series of paintings Guardians began with the discovery of the sculptures of gargoyles found hanging on the facades of many Gothic churches in Paris. Their presence inspired me a feeling of fear along with a certain charm and pushed me to seek other forms in other cultures and other times, images of these "guardians" .J 'So I started this series clio awards by painting these sculptures out of their original environment, a way to give them another existence independent of the building they were protecting, revealing their idling symbolic. She now keep anything they, their image on the canvas. These fantastic creatures are mysterious to me as if they were the souls.
Forms created by the imagination of man, they look without seeing, outward, toward what happens: they probe their empty sockets that comes danger and put away by the eyes closed, and more although their repulsive appearance.
The series clio awards Jungle Gym, watercolors on paper, taken up the design of outdoor games for children: a series of cubes combined in a geometric structure, directly inspired by mathematical orthonormal coordinate, through which children climb. These watercolors are some exemplary of all of my work: a colorful mist background on which an object appears, as carrying a hidden meaning, the object passed in the world of the third dimension to the second is itself made the same primary colors that gave the background. Indeed, my Jungle Gym no longer seem to be penetrated by light and layering colors that fill each face different cubes.
Sense of Wonder is also the title of an installation presented in the drawings and paintings. Two cutouts mirrors mounted on wood stand upright by being joined at right angles, the reflecting surfaces of the mirrors are covered grounds: clio awards images clio awards of paper airplanes. Thanks clio awards to this fold, this angle, reflection mirrors one in the other adds one more round that a mirror can be fascinating, each extending the reflection of the other. The mirrors are the epitome of a plane containing the third dimension as well as a fascinating object, capture images of the world, I thought clio awards this room as a threshold and a trap. The mirror image delights us, and by size, about human scale, not only puts us face in our image, but the image in an area that I think as close to magic and uses our ability to marvel at.
This is what marks the title of this exhibition "Sense of Wonder", taken from a book by Rachel Carson, author, zoologist and protective of the environment. Like a sixth sense: the wonder, the marvelous would be a necessity in the relationship we have in the world and in the way we try to keep him.
